Virginia Peninsula Community College continues its United for Impact conference series with “AI Insights: Navigating the Future” Tuesday, June 18 at the Peninsula Workforce Development Center in Hampton. The event will bring together educators, technology experts, government officials and employers to explore the developments and practical applications of artificial intelligence.
Free and open to the public, the 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. symposium will examine the potential of AI across various fields, giving attendees insight into the latest advancements in AI technologies and the ethical considerations surrounding AI implementation.
The event will feature expert facilitators, VPCC faculty included, guiding panel discussions and breakout sessions designed to foster collaboration, exchange ideas, and showcase AI innovation.

Highlights also include Jefferson Lab Director Stuart Henderson as the guest speaker and Christa Krohn, senior director of Learning Systems with TIES (Teaching Institute for Excellence in STEM), delivering the keynote message. Henderson has been in his role with Jefferson Lab, a world leader in nuclear physics research, since April 2018 and is a Governor’s Distinguished CEBAF professor at Old Dominion University. Krohn, in her role at TIES, serves the global STEM Learning Ecosystems Community of Practice and contributes to various transformational leadership, ecosystem development, STEM education alignment as well as AI and emerging technology policy and innovations.
